The short answer
You tell us about the home and who the lift is for, an experienced local installer visits to measure for free, and you get a written quote with the model, price, timeline and permit plan. A straight stair lift is usually fitted in four to five hours; a shaftless lift in one to three days; an elevator with a shaft in three to four weeks, according to Fixr.

The four steps
- Tell us about the home. Use the form on any page. Phone is the only contact detail we need; email is optional.
- We call you back to talk it through and arrange a free visit at a time that suits you and the rider.
- A free visit to measure. An experienced local installer measures, checks power and structure, and listens to what the rider needs.
- A written quote, then the install. Model, price, timeline, warranty and permit plan in writing. Nothing happens until you say yes.

Who does the installation?
Installs are done by experienced local installers. Florida's elevator law does not cover lifts inside private homes, so we encourage you to ask the installer for its state registration if it holds one, proof of insurance and the local permit plan. Our questions to ask list helps.[3]
